Sugar Rush

Today while digging through the pantry for a yummy snack, I stumbled upon some of my favorite cupcake liners, which just happen to be THE cutest liners in the world! After a few moments of taking in their cuteness, I was inspired to turn these adorable, little liners into something a little more wearable. Bright, gorgeous colors are so in right now, so here's my attempt at making fashion a little more sweet! :)

color-block dreams

Fedex dropped these little babies off the other day and now my life is complete! I can't seem to take them off my feet, and they aren't exactly comfortable to sleep in, haha! I've been coming up with all kinds of cute outfits to wear them with, but I've still got my eye on the black and the orange/nude pair too! SO OBSESSED! :)

decisions, decisions.

Lately I've been seeing a ton of bright colors everywhere in fashion, especially when it comes to shoes. Right now I've got my eye on a couple different pairs in an assortment of beautiful hues! I don't believe North Carolina has a Zara, so I've been checking their online store multiple times a day, and unfortunately I noticed that they sold out of my favorite (blue and green), lust worthy pair of heels! But lucky for me, there are lots of colors to choose from..I just need help narrowing down which pair to make mine!

So many colors, and too little space in my closet! What's a girl to do?

Instagram Easter

After weeks and weeks of living like a hermit, locked in my bedroom reading the Hunger Games trilogy, I've decided it's probably about time that I bring my head back down from out of the clouds. Now, back to reality with a newly acquired Josh Hutcherson obsession, I've been looking for activities to fill the void that the Hunger Games left in my heart. In the midst of trying to distract myself, yesterday was a great excuse to get out in the sun and have a little fun with my family, celebrating Easter Sunday. My day started with a wake up call at the crack of dawn to get dressed in my Easter-Sunday-best, and get to church on time, followed by an Easter egg hunt that my sweet Mom organized in our back yard. After eating every last piece of candy from my plastic eggs, we decided to dye and decorate some real ones! The eggs turned out beautifully, and it seems that a day filled with laughs and way too much sugar was just what I needed to get back into the swing of things!
Here's a few Instagram shots from my day, and I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter! :)

a color story

Only a couple more days until it is officially spring, and I couldn't be more excited! Although it literally feels like summer here, haha! Regardless..with all of the beautiful trees blooming, the delicious fruits in season, and the bright colors all around, I've made it my mission to incorporate some more of these colors into my everyday life. One color I'm particularly fond of right now is coral! Somewhere in between pink, red, and orange, coral is a perfectly pretty hue that can breathe a new freshness into any aspect of your life!

Here's how I attempted to coral-ize my life!

From my clothes, to shoes, to my attempt at ombre nails, all the way to my undies and even a couple of my paintings...coral is making its way into my life, and I sure hope it's here to stay! :)

First post!

Hey everyone, my name is Chelsey!
This is my first post for homegrown-chic, a place where I hope to express my thoughts and give a sneak peek into my life where everyday I try to find the chic in the little things, in my own hometown!

As you all know spring time is fast approaching and with warmer weather on the way, it means it's time for some serious spring cleaning! The first project I'll be checking off my list this season is my closet! Purging your closet of all the bulky winter wear you own is definitely a great way to start, especially when you think about all the left over room you'll have for the beautiful, bright colored, spring clothing and accessories that await you!
While digging around in my closet, sorting and rearranging all of my winter wear, I came across a few of my favorite spring staples that are sure to get me through this season without breaking the bank. It's a great feeling when you blow the dust off that peachy pink necklace from last summer, and slip your foot into that nude sandal that your haven't rocked in months!
By reintroducing a few old friends from past seasons and reincorporating them into your wardrobe, these key pieces can be exactly what you need to add that extra something to your warm weather wear!
So instead of hitting up the mall this weekend, take inventory of what you already own and figure out a way to make it fresh. Renewal and freshness is what spring is all about isn't it? So take a shopping trip to your closet for a budget friendly way to breath new life into your wardrobe, you might actually be surprised at what you'd find!

My closet crusade:

Lots of cool colors and thick textures, but there are also warmer hues that have potential!

Clearly I have quite the short collection! It's time to break them out!

Nude shoes work with any season and can pull together any outfit.

Bright, sparkly, statement necklace are definitely a yes for spring!

Which key pieces are you going to take with you into the spring season? Let me know! :)
